Hello list,
We've decided at nagios-fr.org to translate the nagios 3 documentation
in french. We've started a reflexion about how to do it and the tools
needed for. Here are some thoughts about that i whish to share with
the community.
Docbook seems to be a good format to keep a documentation source code
tidy. It is well suited for a project like a software documentation.
Do you think it could interesting to keep the original documentation
in this format ? It could be easier for translators around the world
to keep in sync with the original source tree maintained in subversion
(or cvs, git whatever you want). The second advantage would be the
possibility to keep the original structure of the documentation intact
between translations. The third is the possibility to "print" a
docbook in PDF, HTML, ODT, RTF... What do you think about that ? Could
be good for everybody or is this just a non sense ? Is there a better
way to achieve this ?
feel free if you have any advice about translating doc projet in
foreign language you can give us.
Thanks
Olivier Jan
