nagios plugins compile problem on debian

The problem is that some of the scripts in the dir 'plugin-scripts' has an illegal first line wit an space in it;
'#! /bin/sh'

Hi all,

I have moved over to a debian box for my sins and am having probs compiling the 
nagiosplug-1.3-beta1 source. I use the following as my ./configure to install nagios 
1.0.b6 ...

 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/nagios --with-cgi-url=/nagios/cgi-bin --with-htm
url=/nagios/ --with-nagios-user=nagios --with-nagios-grp=nagios --with-template-
objects

My plugins ./configure is as follows ....
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/nagios --with-some-user=nagios --with-nagios-gro
up=nagios --with-cgiurl=/nagios/cgi-bin

The ./configure goes ok but when i do a make all i get the following error ....

pod-163:/home/twelsh/nagios/nagiosplug-1.3-beta1# make all
cd . &&
/bin/sh: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 2

any help greatfully recieved
