RedHat v8

Have you ever used Webmin?
Within Webmin (www.webmin.com <http://www.webmin.com/> ) you can have a
really nice interface into the system.
The benefit here is an easy place in the configuration file apache uses
to specify a default page. You are correct that if no default page is
detected than it will default to the Apache page, however you can
specify the name and types of pages it will use for default.

I think the prob is apache 2.0 apparently doesn't need a default
page. it if doesn't find one it pulls the standard new-apache
webpage. I think the plugin is what needs the index.html not apache

Remember you can set a default page to index.html (or anything you
want) as a possible default page within Apache.
Then take the default file and copy it to index.html.

I installed rh8 then installed nagios (my first time)
everything works except check_http, RH8 uses apache 2 which uses a
different root directory than /home/httppd/ and there is no
index.html file in it. I think nagios needs the index file to be
there to work properly.

Has anyone upgraded to RedHat version 8 yet? If they have, is Nagios
still stable?
Thanks.
