Might even want to consider cacti instead of MRTG (as an option).

Focus on ROI and initial startup costs. Because the OS is free and the
program is free, it really makes it a no brainer in the bosses eyes.
Just one incident saved because of the monitoring tool can be worth the cost
of the server.....
Plus wrap the server cost into other areas of traffic monitoring and
protocol analysis. All free on the Linux platform.
MRTG
Network Probe
These are just two great products that also can be put on the server for
next to nothing. (sweat and tears only)
Good Luck!!
Chris.

Hi all,
Apparantly .NET contains a product called MOM - Microsoft Operations
Management. This product can provide real-time monitoring & reports etc etc
of windows servers.
My manager put a hold on ordering the server that we are purchasing for
nagios and asked me to look into MOM. I'm looking for ... comparative
information of the two products. I have a preference of which product i'd
like to put in, but I have to build a case. Can anyone here comment on
these two products?
p.s. I just found out that the licence for MOM is per processor
monitored... so if we want to monitor our lab PCs, we'd have to pay
1000*the licence fee ... which is low-three figure price...
