Configuring of non-essential hosts

I have a fair number of machines on my network that for
various reasons aren't and don't need to be connected at all
times.
I have them currently set to not to notify, but I don't like
having them listed as critical, since it really doesn't matter too
much.
Has anybody else dealt with a similar situation?
I'm interested in your suggestions.
Thanks,
Kyle Consalus
