check_nrpe fails, SSL handshake error (Solved)

I'm glad that your problem was so easy to fix. :-)

However, on my system all the relevant files *are* owned by 
nagios:nagios. Ownership is clearly not an issue, since it works fine 
with SSL disabled; but doesn't work with SSL enabled.
