nagios starts, but not seen in browser

Hello,
I've recently installed Nagios 1.0 and all was working fine until today
when I had to reboot the machine it runs on.
After the reboot and after the Apache and Nagios daemons started, I
opened a browser and pointed it to http://servername/nagios but instead
of the normal Nagios interface I see a simple Apache directory listing
of /var/www/html/nagios.
What has happened here? What can be done to fix this problem?
No changes were made to any configuration files from the time Nagios was
working (up to the second I shut the server down) and when I started the
process after booting.
I might add that the server did actually stall due to an overload. I'm
not exactly sure if the Nagios and Apache processes were shutdown
gracefully or not, but I was able to perform a remote "/sbin/reboot"
command to gracefully restart the machine.
I am using RedHat 8.0 with Apache 2.0.40 and Nagios 1.0
Thank you.
