Nagios upgrade

I recently upgraded from netsaint to nagios.  I am used to using check_nrpep to execute plugins on the remote host.  The check_nrpep would look at the config file on the remote host for the ARGS.  I have downloaded nsca to do this, but am not familiar if it does indeed do the same thing as check_nrpep.  Thanks
