Reclassifying Acknowledgement Service Notification Type

Right now, it appears that acknowledgements for a critical problem are
themselves deemed critical events.  However, some of the recipients of the
alerts don't want to know about acknowledgements.

Is there some way to reclassify acknowledgements as "recovery" events
regardless of the event being acknowledged?
