Multi-level service dependencies... not working

Oh dear.

I had thought this was quite possible given the current revision of
Nagios; now i'm responsible for having Nagios implemented here where I
work, and i'm going to bite a nice silver bullet if it turns out this
dependency issue can't be fixed :(

Is there no way to do as he has suggested above?
