check_disk and upper case device names

Which version of check_disk are you running? What is the command used?

Got an interesting one here.
If the file systems device name is in upper case as 

/dev/vg03/DBUSERS 

I get a "DISK UNKNOWN - free space:|" being returned from nrpe. version 1.9,
however everything in lower case works fine. Any ideas
