DB support sounds good, but unfortunately only a few tables are
maintained (actually 12 and even less in Nagios 2.0) and without
historical records!

I am concerned about generating pretty "services availability reports"
and, for that purpose, the relevant data is NOT in the DB but in
"nagios.log" flat file (with daily rotation). From this point of view,
DB data is absolutely irrelevant and do not justified the effort of
maintaining mysql. Actually I'll not be the Nagios system manager and I
should keep things as simple as possible. No way I could "sell" MySQL
support.

Make sense? If so, how could I get rid of mysql support efficiently and
with no data lost? I might well try a reinstallation of Nagios without
mysql support and add then the config and log files previously saved.
It does not sound very clever, but being new to mysql that's all I can
thing of, apart from asking for advice to this list.
