cisco port status checks via SNMP

I've got our nagios system up and running here and its doing a number of ping based service checks without a problem but in order for us to use this system we are going to need some more functionality which I have been unable to find plugins for after searching around yesterday and today. What I'm looking for is the ability to check the port status on a cisco device via SNMP. I ran across a couple plugins and scripts that allow nagios to check cisco processor load although nothing that will allow you to monitor ports. The majority of our client links here require that we check their port status on a specific switch or router and I was curious to see if nagios can support that functionality. Any information regarding this or if somebody could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
