check_ifoperstatus does not work !!

Tried this:
nagios3 libexec # su nagios -c "./check_ifoperstatus -k 21 -H aus-line-01.corenap.com -C *edited*" 2> /dev/null
SERIAL OK - Interface Serial1/0/2:1 (index 21) is up.
I am really stumped, any ideas are appreciated.
