error with NRPE

hello
I'm using nrpe to check a remote host's services and I have allways the 
same message:

CHECK_NRPE: Receive underflow.  Only 707 bytes received (1040 expected).

I've checked the nrpe.cfg, the inetd.conf, and I think everything is ok. 
I've tried to find something about this error message, without success.

Could someone give me any idea about this problem?
