weird problem with check_ifstatus (and check_ifoperstatus)

Hi,
I've been having problems making check_ifstatus go. It's been
complaining:
Undefined subroutine &utils::is_hostname called at ./check_ifstatus line
383.
when I run it from cli.
I just hacked out the offending if statement around line 383 (and it now
works), but I'm fairly sure this is not advisable.
Has anyone else seen this before?
fyi:
check_ifstatus v1.8
fresh net::snmp from cpan.
