I suspect that the nrpe user (whatever UID the NRPE agent runs as) does not
have read permission the the log file you are testing.  Of course root can
read it, so your command line test works...  you may need a sudo wrapper
around the check (we do this to enable a check_mailq command to run - it
counts fils in a dir listing, quicker than running the mailq command and
parsing when you have queues of 10000 messages)
