Generally speaking yes, but it would be much more complicated, because you need a differerent plugin on every hardware / OS type (and you might need to write a few of them on your own):
- Windows: NSClient from PerfMon
- Linux: Grep ifconfig
- Routers: Telnet and expect scripts
and so on. If you think about this for security reasons, you could also try to tunnel snmp somehow or implement a management lan.
