Critical messages to phone

Same exact thing happened to us. Even a raw SMTP test message (via telnet)
never got through using Cingular's gateway. But Outlook worked just fine.
In the end, I had to configure the Nagios machine to relay off our company's
primary mail server to get phone alerts to work through Cingular. It's
quite possible that their gateway does reverse DNS checking, MX record
lookup, or some other stringent email security in order to reduce the
possibility of spam coming in.

Subject: [Nagios-users] Critical messages to phone
Nagios-Users,
We had to change cell phones and service provider and now our critical
messages that went to our phones no longer work. We were using Nextel phones
(Nextel service) and moved to Sony Ericsson phones (Cingular service).
I'm able to send email from Outlook to my sony ericsson phone but have not
been able to do the same from our Unix Nagios system. My coworkers that
still have their old Nextel phones are still getting the messages, so I know
that still works.
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
