scheduled_downtime_depth

What exactly does scheduled_downtime_depth in the nagios db version 1.2 do?
Is it regarding parenting structure? If I schedule host A to have downtime
and set its scheduled_downtime_depth=1 does all its children also have
scheduled downtime?
