If the server also runs MS Exchange, it may be grabbing hold of
port 1248 and preventing NSClient from working. Configure NSClient
to use a much higher port number, above 2000 should be plenty high
enough. Make sure the port isn't used by anything else.
If you can't kill off a process using Task Manager, try using the
pstools (specifically pskill) freeware package available from
www.sysinternals.com.
