How to check Nagios itself??

Check nagios from cron. Check cron from nagios. Make sure one restarts
the other in case either goes down. Make sure both send notifications if
either goes down. If both go down simultaneously you're shit out of
luck, but you'll never be able to cover all cases anyway.
