Per service notificatin options in 2.x ?

Dear Folks,
Is it possible to configure different notification options (in partic,
do _not notify by epager) for _services_ with Nagios 2.x ?
The scenario is a high rate of service notifications and
no respite because the service is b0rked and management will not
replace, it but expect it to be patched up each time.
An event handler takes care of the auto restart but the notifications
interrupt people.
The only way I can think of to handle this is
. make the host a member of a new contact group
. put the current contact group members in the new group, with new names
. define new contact definitions (with the new properties such as
service_notification_commands notify-by-email) for each of the new
contact names.
This seems redundant and long winded and also changes the notification
methods for those services on the host that are not volatile/broken.
Is it possible to do this more easily some other way ?
The config parser rejects 'service_notification_commands' properties in
the service definition file; is there any other way ?
Yours sincerely.
