On-demand service state ID numbers

Hi all,
Does anyone know where to pull out the service state ID numbers from
Nagios 2.x? I've investigated all *.dat and *.log files and they don't
seem to be present in any of these files.
I ask because I would like to use check_cluster2 outside of the Nagios
environment (i.e. where the on-demand service state ID macros are not
available)
My interim solution is to use 'tee' in the command definition to extract
the return data from the command definition and write that to a file
then retrieve that information from a CGI.
Thanks,
