All direct database support has been removed from nagios as of 2.x.
Search the archives for lots of discussion as to why. The synopsis is
that it has been removed from the core in favor of the NEB (Nagios Event
Broker) support which offers significantly greater flexibility for data
storage and can be used to emulate the previous support.
This project will probably be useful to you --
