We have implemented GLPI as our inventory / asset management component
it integrates with ocsinventory http://ocsinventory.sourceforge.net/
With the two of these we can get automatic inventory of Linux and
Windows machines.
There is some manual stuff to do when it comes to Cisco devices.
But anyway.

Exodus 34:6,7 Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed,
"The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and
abounding in loving kindness and truth...yet He will by no means leave
the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children
and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."

the company i work for is facing the decision to leave the CA and
implement Nagios & friends.
The problem is we need ISIL comformance
and for that we need software that play nice with nagios (plugins,
central DB)
RT would be nice for tracking, but Asset Management is a real pain in
the a..
So what do you use for asset (hardware, software, licenses) tracking &
inventory, auto software patching/installation etc.
please URGENT! It could be the only possibility we have to get out of
CA, if we dont convince the top project manager, we will be stuck the
next 3 years with CA :( thats a lot of costs, better a part to go for
oss support :)
Please give your recomendations based on experience, as we have only one
"stop" person to put nagios in charge.
Thank you very much for your recomendations,
if you feel its a kind of advertisement, send it directly to my email
Oh yes, this installation will be for Linux, Solaris, Windows & Cisco
domain.
Kind Regards,
Qstreb
