Correct, not natively.

There are a couple of projects that take advantage of the new Event
Broker to implement database storage of status data. NDOUtils (Ethan is
writing) and nagios-db. Google will help you find both.
Nagios has never read configuration data directly from database and
there are no projects that I am aware of to modify it to do so.
