usb gsm modems for linux

Hi,

I'd like to configure nagios to send sms alerts. Can someone please
recommend equipment to do this? I need something that connects via USB,
and is powered via USB. It's for a data center, so power points are
precious.

I'm running Debian Sarge, with linux kernel 2.4.27. That could fairly
easily be updated to 2.6.8 if needed.

It's also based in Australia, so if you know where to buy the device in
Australia, that would be fantastic as well.
