Nagios not reporting down hosts but reporting down service

hmh, are you shure, that your config is ok?

May be you should check your templates (if you use them)?

define host {
...
check_command                  check-host-alive

What does your checkcommands.cfg say regarding "check-host-alive"?

And may be you have double entries in one of the files, grep -r for them.
