check_nagios -- not detecting status log update correctly

[root at foobar ~]# ls -l /var/log/nagios/status.dat
-rw-rw-r--  1 nagios nagios 155812 Nov 29 10:03 /var/log/nagios/status.dat

[root at foobar ~]# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nagios -e 5 -F
/var/log/nagios/status.dat -C /usr/bin/nagios
Nagios problem: located 1 process, status log updated 1164816202 seconds ago

Any ideas?
