Yes. The documentation is at
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/2_0/templatetricks.html
You don't have to define a group - instead you can list the hosts in
your service definition like so:
host_name mail01,mail02,mail03,mail04
or you can use wildcards or regular expressions.
