In my opinion, that it's a very wide question to answer, maybe you'll find a suitable answer in the official documentation... Give it a try, it's not so hard as it seems at first sight!! ;-)
 
In general, there are not better methods than others, you should study separately each different item to monitor.

What are the differences and advantages b/w agentless nagios setup and agent based (NRPE, NSCclient) Nagios monitoring.

 

Please help me in understanding which is better to go with Agentless or Agent based.
