My guess is that you are not actually checking the remote hosts. check_disk, if that is what you are using, must be installed and run on the host you wish to check disk space on. Which method are you using to obtain the results from the remote hosts? There are several, and you must install additional software on the remote hosts or configure third party programs such as SNMP to obtain those results. Some possibilities are --
- NRPE
- check_by_ssh
- SNMP (via check_snmp)
- the remote hosts submitting passive results via NSCA
