notifications not being sent on host down/unreachable

I included the template because the actual host definitions only include the
server specific information. I'm not overriding anything. For example...
define host{
use standard-host
host_name server1
hostgroups +servers
alias server1
address server1.domain.com
}
The same goes for contacts everything else.
