Email Alerts not working in Nagios 3.2.3

I am running nagios version 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 server and running
postfix as smtp server. email alerts are not working. I checked postfix
logs and could not see nagios contacting smtp server

Let me know if anyone needs any additional information.
