monitor bandwidth

Hello, 

I'd like to use nagios to also monitor interface bandwidth.
Is there a way to monitor interface bandwidth ?

Can the $LASTSERVICECHECK$ macro be accurately used to determine the time interval between two snmp get checks for specific interface rx and tx values.
