Well, features like this has to be created as eventbroker modules. Once
loaded, they run in the same binary segment as the Nagios process, so
there's no real difference.
Loadbalancing and failover solutions are, while very useful indeed, not
actually necessary by all that many people. It's better to keep such code
separate from the Nagios core.

Well, I'm the Merlin maintainer. I'm also a Nagios core developer. Not
exactly the same team, but we cross-pollinate quite well ;-)
