Red Hat compilation problem

Dear Sir

I´m trying to install nagios 1.0 (stable) in one Red Hat server (version 
7.3) and occurs the following error:

# ./configure

Apparently, there are problems with the gcc, but seems very strange to me. 
I couldn´t find anything about it in the docs of nagios and Red Hat. 
Anyone has any idea to help me?
