Not to trivialize the nature of the problem, but given that:
1) Nagios configs support templates;
2) out of a few hundred machines, there should be *some* repetition of disk
sizes;
3) for each machine, you need to edit a config definition anyway;
you ought to be able to define quite a few templates and reference them in
the individual configs (and save yourself lots of keystrokes in the
process). This might bring the nightmare down to a more manageable
'nuisance' level.
