plugin DNS and DIG

I use  nagios-plugins-1.3.0-beta2 and i have problem with 2 plugins , 
chech_dns and check_dig , when I use option -t TimeOut different to 10 
seconds :
I test plugins with DNS server, named stopped :


col at mir-admin:[~]> /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_dns -s 172.20.100.46 -H 
truc.
essai1.fr -t 10
CRITICAL - Plugin timed out after 10 seconds
col at mir-admin:[~]> /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_dns -s 172.20.100.46 -H 
truc.
essai1.fr -t 11
DNS ok - 10 seconds response time, Address(es) is/are (null)




col at mir-admin:[/opt/nagios-plugins-1.3.0-beta2/plugins]> 
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_dig -H 172.20.100.46 -l truc.essai1.fr -t 10
CRITICAL - Plugin timed out after 10 seconds

col at mir-admin:[/opt/nagios-plugins-1.3.0-beta2/plugins]> 
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_dig -H 172.20.100.46 -l truc.essai1.fr -t 11
DNS WARNING - No ANSWER SECTION found


I put ethereal and no response from server ...


What I don't understand ??
