Experiencing checking problems

Hey,

it's me again ;-)

Since a few days I'm experiencing heavy problems with Nagios,
currently running 1.0b4.
Nagios only checks all hosts and services once after a SIGHUP
to the nagios process itself.
After this check no more checks are being carried out...

Only on two hosts - but it doesn't seem to be a logical choice
which hosts are checked further on.

No change at all at the main configuration files of nagios.
