Take a look at nrpe.cfg on the remote host.  You may have noticed a line
that looks like:

   allowed_hosts=127.0.0.1

Modify it to look like:

   allowed_hosts=127.0.0.1,xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your Nagios host.  Remember to
restart the nrpe daemon after you've saved this change to nrpe.cfg.
