A quick and easy fix would be to go back to your source tree and do a
make install-commandmode

Subject: [Nagios-users] Problem with NAGIOS.CMD
Hi all,
I've been trying to add some comments, add some shutdown time, using the
CGIs, and I keep having this message :
Error: Could not open command file '/usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd'
for update!
The permissions on the external command file and/or directory may be
incorrect. Read the FAQs on how to setup proper permissions.
An error occurred while attempting to commit your command for
processing.
I went to the folder /usr/local/nagios/var/rw , and the chmod is 777,
so anyone could write into it. Any idea why it doesn't work ?
thank you.
