Log not logging, trends.cgi and check_udp and check_ntp error

I recently upgraded to Nagios 1 and converted my configs to the new format
(full day job). Overall I am very happy with the process response time. I
do have a few problems though :
1) The trends.cgi seems to be missing - it isn't on the server, but was
under the old version
2) check_ntp gives a constant warning "NTP WARNING: Offset -98.118033
msec > +/- 60 sec, jitter 0.020 msec " despite the plugin's defaults.
Manual value override doesn't help wither.
3) check_udp - FYI - it doesn't use '-H' - bug
4) The log is only logging process changes, not service
notifications. Syslog gets everything properly. Since the nagios.log is
incomplete, trend analysis is basically 100% regardless of process status.
