Nagios v. 1.1: NTP return error code 127

Hello fellow Nagios users...

Can anyone explain the following error message for me?

"Warning: Return code of 127 for check of service 'NTP' on host 'hostname' 
was out of bounds. Make sure the plugin you're trying to run actually exists."

The plugin is installed and working properly when used from commandline, 
but not when called from Nagios.

Hope anyone can help me...
