notifications

I am having problems with Nagios (1.1) not sending out emails. This was all 
working fine but not it's now. I'm using notify-by-email in my contacts.cfg 
file and exim as the local smtp daemon. I can tail the log file for exim 
and I never get nagios submitting the notifications. Like I said, this was 
working and suddenly stopped. Is there a nagios log I can look at to see if 
the notifications are working on the nagios end of the process? I've looked 
but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Thanks!
