Latency in service checks

Hi
Im facing some problems in nagios in latency of services as they 
sometimes continously increase and go as high as some 270 seconds due t 
which the proper results are not shown as shown in the sample of 
performane report below.

Check Execution Time:   < 1 sec 21 sec 4.465 sec
Check Latency:

< 1 sec 140 sec 61.503 se

This is happening in the nagios server allthough the cpu load is normal. After that i have done service interleave factor as none so no delay is introduced beween checks.After that the condition is like shown above.
Im monitoring 37 hosts and some 250 services.
Can there be some other reason for latency in service checks
