Issue w/External Commands

All,

I have followed the instructions @
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/1_0/extcommands.html.

My problem is that whenever I go to add host/service comments I'm returned
w/

Error: Could not stat() command file '/usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd'!

Anyone have any insight?
