check_dns plugin timeout

Dear Nagios users,

I have Nagios 1.0 installed for monitoring purposes. It has been more 
then a week of "good continuous monitoring".
However today I got a "false alarm" with DNS service failure where the 
nagios plugin check_dns had timed out.

Exact error goes like this "CRITICAL-Plugin timed out after 10 seconds"

Plugins installed are

> nagios-plugins-1.3.0-beta2.tar.gz


Any reasons why this should/shouldn't be happening.
