Stale Service checks in Scheduling Queue

Hello,

I have trouble with scheduled services going stale.  Service checks are
scheduled in the "Scheduling Queue" but they do not run and are not removed
from the scheduling queue.  It appears there may be a process fork'ed to
check the service and that process fails to exit.

For example, the current time is 17:41:08 and I have numerous jobs waiting
in the queue spread back to 16:48:23.

I am running Nagios 1.0 on RH72.
